How fleeting life is...

Through blogs on the web and most recently (2 days ago) through a fatal accident close to our home it is sinking in how fleeting life is and how protected I and my family have been.

Tomorrow (as I finish this blog that would be today) a sweet family will celebrate and mourn the year anniversary of their daughter's birth and death. Their faith in God such a testament to His grace and strength. Elsewhere a family struggles to bandage their newborn son as a rare disorder has rendered him the most fragile of children. And finally another family waits and prays that a new treatment path will bring the infant son's heart under control, a heart that was already miraculously healed once before. I know there are others, but these are the ones that I have begun to follow and the common thread in all their stories is their faith in the one true sovereign God.

I am inspired by their faith and trust in God for I am such a fickle follower. And yet God does not love me less...in fact, he doesn't compare me at all. He created me to walk my path and that is my measuring stick.

A wise woman (Beth Moore - love her, love her, love her) pointed out that God gave the Israelites exactly the amount of manna they needed...those that needed much had much, those that needed little had little. She went on to draw a parallel between the manna and God's grace. In 2 Corinthians 12:9a it says, "But [the Lord] said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, 'sufficient' is defined as, "enough to meet the needs of a situation or a proposed end." ...not an abundance...not a shortfall...but as Goldilocks would say, "Just right." And so I am grateful that God will not only give us His grace, but He will portion it out...perfectly!
